ÜSTRA Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH, the leading provider of local public transport in Lower Saxony with around 106 million passengers a year, commissioned CE cideon engineering in mid-2022 to develop two mobile drive test benches for testing asynchronous motors in light rail vehicles.

These highly developed test benches are not only available to ÜSTRA, but can also be used by other transport companies and industrial customers who have similar requirements for testing drive units.

With our expertise in the areas of mechanics, electrics/controls and functional safety, we were able to provide the following services:

• Constructive engineering work
• Conception and planning of the electrical system
• Creation of circuit diagrams with EPLAN P8
• Selection and planning of components
• Procurement and assembly of test bench components
• Electrical installation and parameterization of the frequency inverters
• Commissioning, testing, verification and validation
• EU conformity assessment (CE marking)

After just a few months of development and construction, the two test benches were successfully delivered and put into operation. Special thanks go to Chemnitzer Verkehrs AG (CVAG), which made its workshop and drive unit available to us and thus contributed significantly to the success of the project.

The mobile test benches have already been handed over to ÜSTRA and are now fully operational.
