The mobile sensor platform is designed as an open test platform. Various sensors such as LiDAR, stereo cameras or radar systems can be flexibly mounted and combined. This allows new sensor approaches and prototypes to be validated under real operating conditions.

The platform makes it possible to compare measurement methods directly on the track and collect data for the optimization of object detection and sensor fusion algorithms. Weather influences, soiling and shading are realistically mapped.

Thanks to its flexible design, the sensor platform can be used repeatedly for test series. It supports research teams and development departments in developing practical solutions for automated and semi-automated applications in rail transportation.

Route measurement & clearance gauge

With a combination of stereo cameras and LiDAR, the mobile sensor platform generates a high-resolution 3D point cloud of the track area. This allows structures, obstacles and distances to be captured with millimeter precision – an indispensable basis for automation technologies such as ATO ( Automatic Train Operation) or Remote Operation.

Validation of sensor fusion & object recognition

How reliably do fused sensor systems work in a real track environment? The mobile sensor platform provides answers: Weather, dirt or shading – all these factors are incorporated into our analyses in order to optimize algorithms for object detection.
